BMR Exclusive: Nas “Tales From The Hood” (Produced by Gowdy) [Untagged/CDQ]

Another joint from DJ Rhude’s Nas The Found Tapes. I know y’all been waiting for the untagged/ CDQ version of this song since it was on DJ Clue’s mixtape back in 02. Well now 9 years later the wait is finally over, Nasty Nas spinning hood tales as only he can.

  1. holy sh*t, i think i blacked out for a second. dope sh*t rhude. i never thought i’d see the day of a untagged version of this…

    • No doubt btc, this has been one of the more heavily requested Nas song for years

      • Indeed. Nice to finally hear it in pristine condition. Hats off to you DJRhude. Thanks. Is this a DAT rip? The sound quality is superb, but it still sounds un-mastered. I think this song might actually go back further than 02, I think it might be from ’99 ’00. Because wasn’t this from Death Of Escobar/Nastradamus/I Am recording sessions? That would make it ’99 ’00. I think I first dloaded this (with the DJ Clue tags) back in the old Napster days. Regardless, the track is still bananas for a hard core Nas Fan like myself. Which brings me to the QUESTION, do know if the Nas track “When Thugs Die” is floating around? That’s another one I’m sure fans would love to hear in this quality. It’s also one DJ Clue first put out,the only copy I know that exists is the rip from his tape from back in the day. Lloyd Banks once did a freestyle over the instrumental for “When Thugs Die”, I wonder if there’s a white label vinyl with the instrumental, because it didn’t sound like someone remade the production of the track,it sounded like Banks spit over the original beat. Banks even says in it “ya,this was Nas’s beat, now it’s my beat”. something to that effect. Anyway, you know about it?..@DJRhude

        • Nah not ripped from a DAT as far as I know, I have these songs on CD, don’t remember the source tho been a long time. A lot of these songs were supposed to go on The Lost Tapes but we’re scrapped. . As far as Thugs, I haven’t tracked that down yet, but I am determined to at some point. Thanks for the great feedback.

          • Not a problem. Not sure what made me think of DAT,I guess I was picturing the tracks on DAT somewhere, but I don’t think the tracks are that old. I might actually be wrong about Tails too, it’s probably ’02 like you said. They definitely seem like a digital source as opposed to analog. Like,I’ve never heard “The Foulness” come through my speakers sounding like that, the vocals so crisp. Because as far as I know that track was never released on a digital format, just on a Pre Release vinyl for the “It Was Written” album. Every mp3 was just a rip from that record. Until now that is. Gives me a whole new appreciation for the song. This is a highly under rated Nas track. (The Foulness)

        • Props again Dj Rhude. I am co-signing for that “When Thugs Die” track when you inevitably get to a “The Found Tapes II”. For now, bless us with that Seed of Heaven joint!

          one

  2. Props Dj Rhude!!! I’m just waiting for one more. You know. Seed of Heaven and I’m good homie. Good lookin’!

  3. All the tracks from “The Found Tapes” are dope, thanks again Rhude. Classic mixtape. Fun Fact: about “Seed of Heaven” is Nas actually reused all three verses on another track titled “We March As Millions” from the “One Million Strong Vol.2″ album which was released in ’02. Check it out,Nas raps the Seed of Heaven verses but not the chorus, and he changed when he says ” Nastradamus” to “Nas from queens”. Out of the two versions I still prefer the original Seed of Heaven version better. I first heard Seed of Heaven on J-love nas finest mixtape and have loved it ever since.

    • Damn, I knew I heard those verses before, just never connected the songs, you’re right. I like the original Seed better as well.

The Foulness is a very underrated freestyle, I still love that joint.

I’ll got y’all on Seeds, I will drop untagged.

Appreciate the love on the tape y’all!

      • Bet on Seeds. I’ll be checking for that one. When you get around to another Found Tapes volume, look ofr Nas’ Queen Finest, Nas’ Live From The Bridge and War from some of the clue tapes. There is also this dope, dope Blaze A 50 remix that somebody upped off an old radio rip. I never heard it on a mixtape. It just surfaced like last year and its still rare, especially a CDQ version tagged or untagged. I’ll have to email you the radio rip.
