You knew the release of a remastered Uncharted collection for the PlayStation 4 was inevitable. When you consider that it’s one of their more lauded franchises on the PS3 and factor in the success of previous remastered titles like The Last of Us, well Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection was bound to happen.
If you’ve never played any of the Uncharted games, consider this beautiful looking title backed by the power of the PS4, Sony’s official love letter to entice you to finally get on board. The game runs at 1080p, 60 frames-per-second and when a game moves as fast as Uncharted, those extra 30 frames make a huge difference. To have all three games (Drake’s Fortune, Among Thieves & Drake’s Deception) packaged together makes it all the more enticing.
In my short time with the demo that I played at an event in NY, it was noticeably how well the game handled on the PS4 as I was plunged into a scene from Uncharted 2. Here, Drake is under heavy enemy fire from his foes manning a helicopter and eventually is forced to leap from a collapsing building.
Another nice touch, the characters models in-game are actually the same as the models used in the cutscenes making for some smooth gameplay.
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection looks to be shaping up nicely and there will be a demo released before the game launches this fall. As an added bonus, anyone who buys the collection gets access to the Uncharted 4 multiplayer beta.
